Conquering The Mind
Unlocking the Power of the Mind: The Mystique of Mushin
In the realm of the human psyche, there exists a powerful state of being that transcends the confines of ordinary thought and emotion. It's a state so profound that it has intrigued philosophers, mystics, and martial artists for centuries. This state is known as "Mushin."
Mushin is the Japanese term for "The mind without the mind" or "Empty Mind." Traditionally associated as the core of zen in Japanese martial arts. This term has deep traditional connections with Zen philosophy in Japanese martial arts. It signifies a mental state in which the mind remains unattached to any thoughts or emotions other than those directly related to the present activity.
The Essence of Mushin: An Empty Mind
Mushin - unburdened by the weight of thoughts, allows the self to dissolve into the background, enabling instincts to flow freely without the interference of judgment or self-doubt. It's a mental state that catalyzes rapid, intuitive responses, whether you're navigating the intricate landscapes of business, mastering the precision of sports, or crafting works of artistry. In everyday life, Mushin feels like a seamless glide from one moment to the next, much like the gentle flow of a serene stream, unattached to anything that might disrupt the pure flow of experience.
The Imperative of Conquering the Mind
The average human...
The average human experience is often plagued by a barrage of involuntary thoughts. Self-doubt, low self-esteem, feelings of emptiness, haunting echoes of past regrets and future anxieties of uncertainties. Fractured relationships shatter like fragile glass, leaving behind sharp shards of pain, to name a few.
For many, financial struggles is the norm. The average person is trapped in a cycle of living paycheck to paycheck. In their hearts, they yearn for something special they can call their own, something that gives them an identity and success. But their fears own them, becoming unbreakable barriers. Overthinking paralyzes them, and past failures cast long shadows of doubt, preventing them from daring to try again.
But here's the paradox: even those who seemingly "have it all" in terms of success, like superstar athletes and corporate titans, grapple with their own inner demons. Anxiety, relentless pressure, imposter syndrome, and the siren call of addictions plague their seemingly charmed lives.
In order to conquer these formidable foes - one must conquer their mind.
What Conquering the Mind Truly Means
But what does it mean to conquer the mind? What is it and what is it not.
Here is a brief introduction to popular notions and philosophies that society frequently regurgitates to the masses - ideas that are either untrue or only partially valid, that has conditioned people down the wrong paths.
1. Conquering the Mind is NOT About Mental Toughness.
Conquering the mind is not about flexing mental muscles, gritting your teeth, and enduring. It has nothing to do with being stoic or resilient in the face of adversity. While mental toughness is admirable, conquering the mind delves deeper into the inner recesses of subconsciousness.
2. Conquering the Mind is NOT Achieved Through Self-Improvement or Personal Development
Conquering the mind has nothing to do with so-called paths of self-improvement or personal development. It doesn't involve reading self-help books, attending seminars, or adopting new habits to become a better version of yourself.
3. Conquering the Mind is NOT Attained Through Meditation
Meditation is not the gateway to conquering the mind. The mind cannot be lived through permanent mindfulness. No meditation practices have the power to silence all the involuntary thoughts that ensues turbulent emotions. Conquering the mind is a journey where the ones thoughts and emotions no longer need to be controlled, rather the human transcends its mind altogether.
4. Conquering the Mind is NOT About Morning Routines
Waking up at 4.30 with morning routines involving breathwork, spiritual practices, meditation sessions, cold showers, or yoga have little effect on conquering the mind. These activities provide a sense of accomplishment and mindfulness but you will only fall back out of mindfulness and become prey to the onslaughter of thoughts.
True mastery of the mind transcends daily rituals.
5. Conquering the Mind Goes Beyond Positive Thinking
Finally, conquering the mind isn't limited to the oft-repeated mantra of "positive thinking" or motivation or unlimited inspiration or possessed seemingly only by the few elusive esoteric individuals such as sport stars or by anyone else.
A New Journey Awaits
Conquering the mind is a JOURNEY.
Conquering the mind is relearning and unlearning.
Conquering the mind is becoming less.
Conquering the mind is about learning the relationship between you and the mind.
So, let's embark on a new journey—a rebirth of our understanding, a fresh start, and a relearning of what has long remained untaught. In adopting this perspective, we can liberate ourselves from the snares of self-improvement, spiritual practices, and the false allure of motivational gurus.
To unravel this enigma, we must expose ourselves to deeper understandings of mind and side effects, consciousness and subconsciousness. The elusive path to Mushin - a realm where the mind, paradoxically, becomes more potent by emptying itself.
