Comfortable Depression

Why Most Will

Never Achieve Their Goals

The raw truth…

Most people will not change their circumstances because, despite living with mild depression, they are far too comfortable.

*

As you sit in the comfort of your own home or apartment, reading this blog with modern day luxuries like electricity with WIFI and a nice warm bed; and unless you live somewhere like Haiti or Ukraine where bombs are dropping over your head, I’m willingly to bet you are surrounded by electronic distractions and you spend far more time on them than on your goals.

And yet despite living more comfortably than anyone in history, deep down, you feel something is missing.

You keep imagining a ideal version of yourself, over and over again.

And despite replaying this rehearse future, it never arrives. Slowly, you begin to accept your life as nothing but a slow, comfortable average reality.

Why does this happen?

It happens because you haven’t truly tried.

The dissatisfaction you feel inside is the voice telling you, you can do more. It’s the part of you that knows full devotion is being withheld.

And because true devotion is yet to be unleashed. Your spirit decays because it is trapped.

Your problems won’t be the lack of opportunities, talent or intelligence.

Your death sentence is living a comfortable life.

You are too anesthetized by electronic distractions.

Your greatest enemy has been and always will be yourself. Digital distractions is the modern day tobacco. So many dreams have died before it even started.

Admit it.

You’re far too comfortable.

-        Perhaps you have big dreams that you fantasies about but you are too enticed by next the latest series and socialization.

-        Perhaps you hate your job, resent your boss and the recurring monthly bills that stresses you out. But unless you feel motivation, you won’t take enough action to carry through the business you been dreaming about.

-        Perhaps you aim for success or greatness because of the shit you been through and you set big goals as a “emotional fuck you” to those who put you down and to your shitty past. But motivation isn’t the same as hitting rock bottom and anger can easily dissipate. And thus, when you aren’t emotionally fuelled, you fall back into default.

Regardless of your fucked up past, socio-economic class or big dreams, if you live in the modern world where you have a warm bed, enough food and at least one electronic device – smartphone, laptop or TV, you are surrounded by too much luxuries indulgence that easily eat away your time – even though you vow to be productive.

The modern human being isn’t severely depressed. They’re mildly depressed with moments of severe depression. And moments of severe depression isn’t enough to change anybody’s life.

The 5 hours of drinking entertainment consumption a day after work or 10 hours of intoxicated to the screens on the weekends is enough to distract oneself from hitting rock bottom.

This is why there are so few legends in the modern era.

My friend, you have been shrinking yourself for years. Its time to stop negotiating with comfort and surrender to the greatness waiting within your own humanity.

Some Daily Practical Solutions.

1.    Time Waster #1: Reading About It For Hours a Day.

Stop reading/researching highly productive habits of other people. There is no magical sauce. The mind is tricks you into thinking there is something out there you must learn. There isn’t.

There is nothing outside of your own ingenuity and intuition that needs to be seek out for. At LL, we teach you to unlearn far more than to what to learn.

2.    Time Waster #2: Control Your Environment

The difference between me now vs the habitual me years ago is what I am NOT doing.

·      I closed all personal social media. For business purpose, I use social media to promote LL.

·      I barely watched anything – perhaps skysports highlights once a week.

·      I no longer research motivational hacks, read self-improvement books, etc. I unsubscribed my email from a bunch of self-improvement blogs, etc.

·      I got rid off fake friends. Anyone toxic had to go.

·      I don’t sit around swallowing self-pity, reflecting, ruminating and overthinking.

·      I do not multi-task.

3.    Time Waster #3: Create Clarity

-        If you feel lost, create clarity

-        If you feel hopeless, then you are perceiving lack of options as the truth.

-        If you feel anxiety then you have too many options.

-        Step outside for a walk and get at least 30minutes of sun shine.

-        Exercise especially in a group setting such as football or martial arts.

For me, the change was easy. Because I was at rock bottom. And the only way out was to fight my way out. However, niggling default habits kept occurring such as negative emotions that would occasionally have me waste time on self-pity or addictive social media. But I was swimming instead of drowning and this time I knew the direction where I was going.

When man is trapped. He is trapped by his own mind. The mind senses whenever its human attempts to change his life. And he will be trapped forever until he frees himself from this mind. Inspiration may allow him to roam freely for a while but the mind will make sure he returns back to his default.

This is the quiet prison.

The sad reality is that somewhere amongst the billions on the planet are those few who genuinely feel they were meant for greater things. But his comfortable depression affords him time wasting activities of dwelling, procrastination, another speech and reading endless motivational books, waiting for the catalyst that will finally transform himself.
